What We Are Seeing for 2027 and Why We Suggest Starting Now

Planning for 2027We want to share what we are seeing across our manufacturer partners, because it affects project planning for nearly every customer we work with. Lead times for UPS and other power infrastructure equipment are now quoted in months, not weeks. Raw materials and component shortages are limiting production, and manufacturers are prioritizing the very large orders tied to hyperscale AI buildouts, which are adding to production backlogs. Smaller orders, including the replacement and expansion projects typical of small to medium data centers, wait in the same queue.

Other pressures are building as well. Some manufacturers of PDUs and other critical hardware are already sold out for 2027, and in some cases a manufacturer cannot yet give a planned production date because the raw materials and components have not been secured. Many of our manufacturers have also announced price increases for January 2027.

What We Suggest

  • Talk to your Power Solutions power specialist about locking in 2026 costs for 2027 projects. With price increases announced for January, orders booked now are placed at 2026 pricing. Power Solutions does not invoice for an order until the project ships, so an order placed now will likely not be invoiced until 2027.
  • Update old quotes. Quotes from earlier in the year may not reflect current availability or pricing.
  •  Plan and budget for 2027 end-of-life replacements. Equipment reaching end of life in 2027 belongs in your planning now, not after a failure forces the decision.

Need Equipment Sooner?

As a value-added reseller for more than 20 manufacturers, Power Solutions can offer alternatives that are in stock or have much shorter lead times. As an example, we recently worked with a customer and a manufacturer to secure eight three-phase UPS units within two weeks for an emergency project. Share the details of your requirement, your budget, and your timeframe, and we will work with you to find a solution that meets your needs. The earlier we know the requirement, the more options we have to offer.
